Mission: To test two pairs of rotational sensors (Model R-1 and RSB-20) in Nigbor’s in-door and out-door facilities in southern California from September to November, 2006.
This task force was initiated by Willie Lee and was led by Bob Nigbor. Two R-2 and two RSB-20 rotational sensors were ordered by the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) of Taiwan, and by the Institute of Earth Sciences (IES), Academia Sinica, Taiwan, respectively. Kinemetrics, Inc. was awarded a contract by CWB to modify two 6-channel K2 accelerographs to record signals from these two types of rotational sensors, and turned the equipment to Bob Nigbor for testing and verification. Willie Lee, John Evans, Chun-Chi Liu, and Chien-Fu Wu participated in this task force. After testing, the equipment was shipped back to CWB for deployment in Taiwan by Task Force 2007-01 under the leadership of Bor-Shouh Huang <> with Chun-Chi Liu, Chien-Fu Wu, and Willie Lee as active members.
The first product of Task Force 2006-02 is a report, “A Preliminary Evaluation of the R-1 Rotational Sensor” by Nigbor and Lee (2006). This report in PDF format is posted online for viewing or downloading: [Preliminary_Evaluation_of_R-1.pdf].
A ReadMe text file is available online [ReadMe_TF2006-2.txt] describing the data and software available online for download. The data used in the above report for evaluation are posted online for free downloading:
