First Observation of Earth's Precession and Nutation with ring laser
In September 2025, Schreiber et al. report on the first observation of the geodetic signal of Earth's precession and nutation motion using a 250-day long time series recorded with the ultra-stable G-ring laser in Wettzell, Germany. With a higher temporal resolution, these measurements complement classical VLBI (very long baseline interferometry) observations with radio telescopes towards better geodetic models.
